Ford 05 AwD
Scotty I have a 05 ford freestyle with about 110,000 miles and I took it over the hills recently and whenever I go down hill, the rpm meter goes up to about 3-4000. Should I be concerned? What are some tips when driving up and down steep roads? Only have a L gear and that’s it.

For going down hill, use brake as much as possible to avoid putting strain on that CVT transmission. For up hill, go easy and don't push the car hard.

Are you describing your transmission holding onto a lower gear to simulate engine braking when going down steep hills?
