Hi Scotty... I want to buy an older pickup truck... I see alot of early 2000s Ford's with the 6L diesel motor for sale for really good prices. I've asked around about the 6L diesel and everybody tells me to avoid them like the plague... I know you're a fan of Ford pickups ...what is your opinion on the Ford 6L diesel?
Hy there!
Do they tell you why not to buy them? If they do not, perhaps this site may inform you (click there).
Good luck!
The 6 liter is a good running engine but had a couple of flaws. The EGR valve allowed coolant to leak into the oil and destroyed many of them. There are a couple of other termites they have.
Brother has a 6L and it is a running monster, but it has had the EGR deleted and many mods on it. Its stable and strong. That is the exception though. Many of them are hiding serious issues.
If you want a good used pickup, look for a Ford 250/350 with the 5L coyote in it. Its strong and fuel efficient. With a programmer you can tune it to save fuel and to take better care of the transmission. That is a good driveline... Besides gas/petrol is much less expensive than diesel.
Thank you very much!
JUNK.
6.0 and 6.4 are bottomless money pits. The aftermarket loves them and so do rebuilders...easily spend $10,000 or more on "bulletproofing".
lol -- thank you very much....thats what Ive been hearing!!
