What are your thoughts on the Ford Edge from 2014 to the present? Are they decent cars to own? What are some common faults of the vehicle?

The electrical problems in these Fords are a big issue.

How long do you plan to keep the vehicle and how many miles do you hope to put on over the life of the vehicle?  The Ecoboost engines (being turbocharged GDI) can wear out over time and the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 had a timing chain driven water pump (located within the engine behind timing chain cover) and if it leaked could mix with the oil and worst case take out the whole engine.  Even if you caught it early it’s still a few thousand dollars to replace the water pump since the engine has to come out.  See at 10:29 below from Master Mechanic The Car Wizard

The V6 engines on those are some of the worst designs in any SUV. They cost a fortune to replace the water pump. If its an EcoBoost engine, those are even worse. They just fall apart as they age. The engines stall or just blow up... They are also electrical nightmares with a bunch of warning signs beeping when there actually isn't an issue. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy any year of the Escape.

You mean Edge. 😉

Many of them have EcoBoost engines: Bad news. See here: https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2021/ford-ecoboost-engine-problems-class-action-lawsuit.shtml
