Hey Scotty,
love your series.
I live in Europe, I recently bought my first car - a German-made Ford Focus II (2005 pre-facelift) with a 1.6 ti-vct gasoline engine and a 5-speed manual, at 190 000 km. The previous owner said it was properly maintained, there was service history at the Ford dealership. I immediately changed the brake pads, timing and serpertine belts, over the next 10 000 km. the clutch slipped and I replaced it, also I noticed it was burning oil at highway speeds, which got fixed by replacing the pcv valve. The person fixing it also cleaned the throttle valve and the intake manifolds and checked the spark plugs (they were clean and OK). I have a minor oil leak from the valve cover and I know that my battery needs replacing, but I will do those before the winter. What else should I check or change as preventative maintenance?
Best Wishes,
Mira
Refer to the user's manual for a complete list but for now, consider changing the coolant, and check the brake fluid as well. Also, remember to change the oil on time,
