Too early to tell.  Personally, a bit overkill and if built robust, any saving in mpg is likely outweighed by the weight/complexity.  Just consider the many extra sensors/solenoids it has and gear changes it does (solenoid/valve switching/pressure changes... ie more wear)... 4-6 is the enough for general applications imo.

Hell no.

Very smooth shifting transmissions, but poor quality. They are fragile and just don't last.

Unfortunately, no, especially if you intend to tow with them (particularly at the higher towing ratings for their truck).  The jury is still out on the durability/longevity of these transmissions but it’s not looking promising given the issues they already had in the near term.
