I Want to buy an RV with a Ford V10 years 2000 through 2012. Are there any years to avoid. I will have it professionally inspected, should that be a just a computer check or should it also include compression and leak down. What other checks should be done and should the coolant, coolant hoses and belts be replaced just to start a baseline. I don't want to break down on the way to Alaska.
Strangely enough my grandson just bought an RV with one of those v10s in it. This is a lot older and has all kinds of problems but he got a dirt cheap. They're decent engines if they don't have too many miles on it but of course they're tremendous gas socks and if you are going to buy something like that you must pay a guy like me to inspect it before you buy there so many things that can go wrong with an RV. And if you've ever driven to Alaska you'll know it's not really a place to drive RVs much many roads I only suggest using all-wheel drive vehicles with off-road capabilities
