I had a friend of mine his truck is 18 years old and he was driving on the down the street one day and his radiator hose broke and he didn't know it his vehicle overheated and he pulled over and fixed it ASAP but now there is a ticking tapping sound coming from the inside of his engine do you know what that sound is?
@mesh28
My guess would be his wngine is junk its never good when you overheat and coolant does not only keep the engine cool it also lubricates. Keep in mind im not a moderator or anything thos is just my best guess on the information you gave
@BIGTED
no, coolant does not lubricate.
Overheating can cause engine parts to warp. Try using a mechanics stethoscope to pinpoint the sound. Sadly it may have to be rebuilt.
@mountainmanjoe
Are you sure? It may not be the primary function but it is a function.
Of course I'm sure. Coolant doesn't lubricate, period.
That screenshot you posted is gibberish.
If the bearings of the water pump came into contact with coolant, it would be destroyed very quickly. There are no other moving parts.
Not a good thing to hear, car probably overheated
