Dear Scotty,

This may be the weirdest letter you ever read because it's the weirdest letter I have ever written. First, please let me say I'm a huge fan, not only because of the awesome, straight-shooting car advice you give but also because you remind me so very much of my late father, who was also Scotty. He was a Depression era, hard scrabble New Englander who believed you only buy 2 things brand new: food & toilet paper (everything else you get 2nd hand). If one was being an idiot or something was a piece of crap, Scotty would tell you. He also fixed everything, especially autos, while I held the flashlight & got yelled at lol.

As a spinster who cares for my 83 yr old mother & disabled brother with Down Syndrome, it’s up to just me to fix things. Last yr my 2010 Nissan Altima's heater would blow cool when the car was just idling. I watched some YouTube 🙂 and tried to flush my radiator but that didn’t fix it. Other than my dad I've only had 1 mechanic and he retired and moved a few yrs ago so I took it to a highly rated mechanic in town. After too much money, they couldn’t fix it so I lived with it. Within the last couple of weeks I've discovered the air conditioning isn’t working now also…in the worst car market we've had in decades, maybe ever.

Here's the weird part. So I just started researching vehicles and I'm looking at Toyotas and Hondas. Of course I'm going to see what you say. I look at the Corolla Cross, I go over to your YT channel and I see you giving it a test drive & review last month…AND YOU’RE DRIVING AROUND MY CITY OF CLARKSVILLE!!! So just when I need the help of a Scotty car guy here you are in close proximity. I was so excited! Now I don’t expect anything, but I just felt the need to reach out to see if you'd be willing to be any sort of assistance on any matter (be it my current car or advice on getting a new one). Shoot, I'd just like to drop off some banana bread or something just to say hi and to be around a Scotty who likely smells a little of motor oil once again. Best wishes for you & yours. Thank you for sharing all your expertise with all of us.

Sincerely,

Lisa
