2013 GS350 AWD.
One of the front drive axles is seeping grease I would call it.
It doesn't appear to have any obvious tears in the boots but there must be somewhere. The axle shaft is coated with thick, black, grease. The outside of the boots appear dry mostly. It's not really being flung around because it's on the shaft between the boots. (less centrifuge force). Almost like it's oozing past the clamps. Obviously I'm not 100% sure how it's getting out.
No noise or odd behavior.
Is this something that I can drive until it makes noise or better to just get it over and replaced now?
It'll keep working fine until all the grease is gone, and then it'll start wearing out quicker, and eventually start making noise.
That could be a long time. I would leave it.
Since the boot isn't torn , maybe you could even just replace the clamps. The parts & tools are fairly inexpensive.
Thank you! I finally got around to it. I got some molly axle grease. I got a needle tip for my grease gun. Snaked that in under the lip and the tip reached the joint. I put a decent amount in and a new clamp. Cleaned up the old grease. I feel good about it.
Nice work
