I have a 09 Honda Ridgeline automatic with 160,000 with a salvage title and the tire rubs on the fender fare in reverse turning the wheel counter clockwise. On the highway I can feel the car shake a bit going around 75 it rubs on the top of the wheel well. I got the car aligned there is also no play when I pull on the tire at 9,3o’clock and 12,6 Could it be the lower control arm or shock? What do you think Scotty?
Salvage title? From a serious accident maybe? If so, how hard was it hit? Are the tires larger than stock?
Tire size are all stock
Then something happened that bent things to the point where the wheels no longer are properly aligned inside the fenders.
The vehicle apparently had body and or frame damage that couldn't be or wasn't properly repaired. It's your baby now. Good luck!
Frame damage somewhere. That's why I always say NEVER buy a salvage title car.
Find yourself a good, and I mean GOOD, body shop and have them inspect the frame structure. Odds are they'll tell you that's as good as it is going to get.
Alright thank you for the advice
Scotty addressed a similar situation with a guy's car the other day. https://youtu.be/67dTuzR4KKM
Watch this and do his wheel check he does with his fingers. The car was damaged in an accident and didn't drive correctly.
For you, it sounds like somebody obliterated the front end and it was poorly rebuilt instead of letting an insurance company total it. Not that unibodies can easily be fixed after nasty accidents. They have crumple zones that crush like soda cans and are virtually impossible to get completely straight again.
For mine I couldn’t tell if the frame was bent it looked all straight
Considering the fact that it is a salvage title car, odds are that the subframe is bent. Take the car to a body shop to check it for you and see if it can be fixed cheap enough or not.
