I have looked but can not find a question that comes close to my issue so I thought I would post a new question.

I have an 04 Silverado Z71 with the 5.3 and 203k miles on it I bought it used and the fuel gauge seemed to work, I was driving along and the gauge showed 1/4 of a tank but the engine died and I had to pull it to the side of the road, it acted like it was out of gas or something like the MAF died, I got it home and put the code reader on it but no codes either stored or new showed up. I thought I would get some gas and added it and it started right up.

When I fill the tank it reads correctly until it gets to 1/4 of a tank again then what do you know it is out of gas again, my thinking is it is the level float not moving all the way down, and I am just looking for suggestion if it might be something else that might be causing the problem, I have not let it get below the 1/4 tank mark again since.

BTW when I do fill it from around a 1/4 tank it does almost take the whole 26 gallons  which is the size of the tank.
