Hi Scotty,
One of my friends has a trailblazer 2009 with 160k kms. When he parks the car on an inclined angle, the fuel gauge goes up and does the exact opposite when parked with the front facing down. he is quite annoyed since the cars fuel tank light shows up when he has quarter a tank left. What is the possible solution. He tried a total new gauge and did not work.
His Pajero never had this issue all these years. He had to sell it since it was 15 years old with over 400k kms.
Additionally, his transmission has a slight delay to engage in "D" from Neutral about 1.5 seconds when we timed it. Never changed transmission fluid. 2WD.
You have to replace the fuel pump assembly. Well you have to replace the sending unit on the fuel pump. I had the same problem and mine had 250,000 so I replaced the whole assembly and its working now. Eventually the gauge will just show completely empty all the time and stop working all together.
Thanks a lot for the advise!
This sometimes happens on cars with fuel level sensors which have floats sitting on the far end of a long arm, like for example here:
The fix is to rotate the fuel sensor assembly (sometimes it is one big assembly also including the fuel pump) back into its correct position. In the correct position the float arm movement plane shall be perpendicular to the car`s longitudinal axis.
