Fuel injection desieling

Hi Soctty,

My mom bought an 87 Chevy cavalier new (yes, in 87).  It has just over 56,000 miles on it.  Right, she didn't / don't drive it much.  Anyway, its' got a 2.6 liter, throttle body fuel injected motor with automatic transmition.  Sometimes, when she turns it off, it will diesel!  I always thought the injector turned off with the engine, but this thing keeps on running, with that chug chug sound, for a few seconds after the key is turned off.

Any ideas on what might be causing it and how to stop it?

Oh, don't think it makes a difference, but it's the rally sport model.

One cause could be a dirty engine. It just needs an Italian tune up as Scotty calls it.
