Fuel pump problem?

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2010 Hyundai Veracruz limited front wheel drive with 179,000 miles. I’m trying to figure out if my fuel pump is going. On a cold start up the car cranks for a while before it finally turns over and once it’s warmed up it starts completely normal. i tested the pump by turning my key to the on position a few times to cycle the pump and it starts up just fine which give me an indicator of a fuel problem. My gas mileage went down also but I’m not experiencing loss of power, no check engine light or misfires.  Today it started pretty normal I didn’t have to cycle the key. Do you think it could be the pump, the fuel filter, the fuel regulator or something different? Thank you for all that you do!

Have you checked fuel pressure? How old is the fuel filter?

I haven’t checked my fuel pressure yet I’m trying to find someone who has a gauge that can read it. And the fuel filter is about 3 years old

If you have a parts store like AutoZone in your area many of those loan out tools.
