Scotty, I have an 05 trailblazer. There's a tsb out that says the contacts on the float are junk. Dealership says that if that's the problem, they will fix it. What are the odds that they would say its the contacts or will I get screwed?
Unfortunately a TSB is not a recall, it’s just a way of secretive g the customer all over again. My advice, being a 2005, if your gonna keep the car, replace the pump and be done with it. Only use Delco OEM.....

Yea, I'm thinking about it. Alot of variables. Was a 2nd gen pump made yet? I wonder if I can cut an access hole?

Yes but you better do a thorough examination of the vehicle and underneath. If there are bolt holes in the floor under the seat where it bolts in or the seatbelt bolt holes, put an inspection camera through the holes and look for the pump
You will find the correct place to put your access panel. Be careful because some gas tanks are directly under the floor less than half inch. Look before you leap or cut.
