Hi Scotty, Just wondering if it is damaging to top up a fuel tank (right to the top) of my 2020 4Runner or my 09 Lexus.

                  Thanks Larry

Yes it is causing harm to your Evap system.

Stop filling at the auto cut-off of your filler neck.

Always stop filling at the autocutoff. Otherwise you can damage components of your evap system.

Specifically, it's the charcoal filled EVAP canister that can be ruined. It's not meant to filter raw, wet gas.

Absolutely never overfill the gas tank, it can overflow into other areas and cause damage, not to mention some damage to the filler cap itself. If you live in a hot area, the gasoline can expand a bit also and cause extra pressure in the fuel tank when it is too full.
