Just had an old fuse link pop on me while trying to revive an old truck.
Instead of just soldering a fuse link, could I solder a fuse holder of the same gauge so that I can replace the fuse rather than splice a new wire in place? Making sure to place a 20amp fuse in it to match the max amps of the gauge wire of course.
I may have to find and replace the whole link as it may all be corroded but wanted to save myself a little pain if I could.

you could. I'm pretty sure they sell drop-in replacements though.
