Hi Scoty I have enjoyed your videos.. I have a 1993 Buick Roadmaster.. 133,350 miles The Idiot light on the dash came on INfl Rest I know this is the air bag.. The part I need is a 26013854 (clock spring) coil kit#5 inflator (air bag) module.. Have you ever taken this apart.. Contacted several dealers only one available in the US.. Everyone else for OEM 26013854 discontinued.. Only wrecking yards will sell withe minimum warranty.. What do I do I only want a OEM part not someone else's problems.. I love this car Wife wants me to get rid of it... I believe in using US cars.. I'm from old school. Gary Dutch Schultze <personal information removed>

So if I am understanding correctly the light for the airbag is coming on but not causing any other problems? In that old of a vehicle I wouldn't expect the system to work. How much is the part new? If you decide to go the junk yard route, I believe if there was a problem with the part it would show up right away.
Yes The part would cost over$370.00 to have it shipped.. It is an original part from a dealer.. the reason I don't want to pay this this I'm on fixed income, retired.. I think your right if I went to a junk yard.. I was told if I get the part mechanic would charge an additional amount of $250-$300 because that rate.. Thank You J pparisio From Dutch
Hi Scotty,,, Enjoyed your video's.. I have a 1993 Buick Roadmaster 135/500 miles the idiot light came on withe Infl Rest.. This is an air bag problem.. Went to several certified mechanic's all said problem in the steering column , there is an open loop. Now have you ever taken one of these apart. The part number is #26013854 OEM.. I only can find one in the US, this will cost over $370 dollars.. The wrecking yards want a lesser amount , but this would be some else's problems.. I love this car.. Wife wants me to get rid of it..I believe in Us cars. That's why I want to know is this repairable.. I have watch Utube video's and some diy mechanics say clock spings can be repaired.. I really need your help.. The horn works, cruise control, wipers etc Everything but the air bag light.. Thank You Gary Dutch Schultze {black}
Airbags are very expensive when buying OEM. You are not really taking any risk getting one from the junkyard because those airbags aren't usually blown and they were stripped from cars in junkyards. Yes, it is usually repairable.
If it's not causing any REAL problems, then why replace it? I get that you want to have a working airbag, but considering the car is nearly 30 years old, I'd be surprised if they even work with all the parts intact, just given the age of said parts, But it's up to you...$370 is a lot of money for a part like that, so if I were you I wouldn't spend such a large amount of money on something like that, mostly because I can't.
