Alright, so for reference I have a resto-mod 52 chevy 3100 with a front suspension clip and engine of 75 nova (the 5.7 L V8). It has the original gas tank size but when it was built, it was moved to the back about 1.5 to 3 feet behind the rear bumper. Anyways, the gas gauge is really wonky and never tells me how gas I have. We think it's a sending unit but whenever I honk the horn briefly, the needle will go up to a higher amount. It also never goes up full when I fill up. What could be causing this?

Well check the wiring from the tank to the gauge it could easily have a shortened wiring that is not as it sounds check the grounding of the gas tank if it's not grounded it can do that too
