Anybody else having the same car and experiencing only 13-15mpg premium gas while driving in city? So is gas mileage really that bad on these?

No check engine light on, no errors flags from OBDII reader, new air filters, new oil & filter, exhaust pipes pretty clean inside. Clean spark plugs. Only 12k original miles, first owner. Engine runs and idles great, transmission shifts perfectly fine. Good acceleration. Only driver in car, nothing heavy loaded in trunk, not towing anything. Nothing out of the ordinary observed.

Thanks for any feedback, Marco

That sounds about right. I had a 1994 BMW 540i when I was younger (also a V8), and I hot around the same MPG, perhaps a little better mileage (540i meant a 4.0L V8, which is slightly smaller than yours). V8s are gas hogs, there's no way around it. It's only when you cruise on the highway at a reasonable speed (up to 65 MPH) where you get  the best efficiency. AWD just adds more unnecessary weight via more friction.

You paid for a rich man's toy and you got it, so don't expect that car to sip gas like a Honda Fit.

According to the EPA, your car is rated at 15 mpg city. Save your money on parts, you'll need it gas goes back to $5/gal.
