Gas Mileage

Hey Scotty, So I bought a used 2019 Toyota Corolla LE 30k miles from hertz car rental. The car runs great and I’ve had no problems with it but  I’m worried about my MPG as I’m only getting 19-20. Now I only drive the car maybe less than 10miles a day in the city. My friends corolla gets about 27 MPG and he drives about 25 miles per day in the city. Is this normal? If not where should I start investigating? I’ve done everything you said in your videos and it seems to not make much a difference.
🙏 thanks

Check the air filter, you have to replace it every 12k miles, another thing is check for carbon build up in the throttle body. The car is still new it’s probably something simple.

YOu bought the car from Hertz, so probably minimum maintenance has been done on the car and people drove iot hard.

Good thing is that it is corolla and almost indestructible.

Change the engine air filter, clean the MAF sensor, and adjust your tire pressure. Good luck.

10 miles in the city. That's pretty much worst case scenario.

Stop and go driving. Engine doesn't spend much time at optimal temperature. Also depends a lot on driving habits.

20mpg isn't that bad.
