Hello,
big fan of your videos. Have a Mercedes 2015 c200 w205 automatic driven nearly 80k miles on it. Other day I was putting some items in the trunk and could smell some gas. Noticed it was coming from both of the exhaust for around 60 seconds max from startup then disappeared. Now after checking I can smell gas from exhaust every time after a cold start only.
Two weeks back had gas smell through ac vent which as per mechanic was due to high pressure fuel pump which was replaced now I don’t smell anything inside or outside the front car. Only exhaust smell as mentioned above.
is this normal ?
is this normal ?
As long as it's a faint smell right after cranking the engine but it quickly dissipates, yeah, that's normal. When you start a cold engine the injectors use a richer mixture to enhance starting. The exhaust fumes/odor will smell more like gas until the engine leans out.
*Leaking fuel injectors can also cause this to happen.
