- 04 chevy Colorado with 139k miles. I get an odor of gas fumes in the cold weather. I can smell them inside and outside the vehicle. There are no apparent leaks of puppies of gas in my driveway. Any ideas?
Well, then there is something leaking. One of Scotty's videos how to find leaks. Perhaps helpful in your case.
Good luck!

I can only recommend that you check your gas cap that it is on tight and secure. Fumes inside the car is not good..I suggest that you crack open the windows a skosh to let outside air in to dilute the inside fumes. More than likely the fumes are coming from the engine EVAP or evaporative system where a relay valve may be stuck as its too cold. If you had access to a scanner there may be codes in the car computer to reveal faults but thats a maybe. What you can do is to drive the car to a Autozone and get the car scanned for free to see if any codes do appear as long as your not in CA.
Could this be the same reason I get gas shooting out of the fill pipe after the pump shuts off.
THATS another problem aside for what I mentioned. In cases like that the gas reversing out will soak part of the body near the gas entry and sometimes into the interior of the body panels - thus causing fumes. What I would do is the pull the nozzle out slightly and fill your car with gas on the slowest click position to prevent gas splash back. NOW that might in time eliminate the gas fumes but now you have to figure out that if we went to 5 gas stations and you fill up the same way on all five...would you have the same five results as to the gas being shot back? If so then there is a problem with the venting system in your gas tank. If in some gas stations it does and then some don't...means that some stations nozzles do not act the same in regards to your vehicle.....You will have to test this theory out if you want...
I happen no matter what station I go to.
Thank you
My trucks going to the shop on Monday I will be sure to ask about this part. I let you know what happens. Great video
Whew. I'm so glad it doesn't leak puppies.
