I bought a 2018 chevy equinox at an auction it has 128k miles. No check engine light. They don't allow test drives just start. On the way home I had to take back roads because the gears were slipping. What can I do to fix it.

- never buy an equinox
- never buy cars at auctions
- never buy cars without an inspection

Big mistake, both the choice of vehicle and where purchased.

That should have told you "run away".

The transmission is worn out. To fix it, install a rebuilt transmission.
However I'd get rid of the thing and chalk this up to life experience and lesson learned.
