general brake job question

Hello all,

when pushing the brake caliper piston back with a c-clamp or similar tool, is it necessary to open the bleeder valve to avoid damaging the ABS system?  I have changed pads and rotors before without opening the valve and everything has been fine, but recently heard of this other advice.

thanks

No I don't think it's necessary. But it doesn't hurt anything to do it that way. In fact it might be a little easier.

@mountainmanjoe
thanks guy I appreciate it, I usually just compress the piston VERY slowly then when i'm done I depress the brake pedal numerous times till it feels normal again
