GM or FCA

Hey Scotty I’m interested in the 2021 Silverado LT Trailboss with a 6.2L V8 and a 10 speed automatic. Should I buy this over the Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi V8. I know GM builds their trucks better than the rest of their cars and Rams have much more problems than GMs Truck. Silverado or RAM

If your buying new, get what you like.  Just get rid of it before warrenty expires.  Personally if I needed a truck, I'd get a Ford...non-eco.

If I were to choose between a Silverado and a RAM, I’d probably go with a RAM with a Cummins Diesel engine.

I was talking to some truck guys, and they were telling me that’s probably the most indestructible engine and powerful in the market.

Mind you, this is just chatter. I’ve never owned one nor drove one.

Out of those options, personally I'd go with the Silverado

Why is that? 🙂

Just going from personal experiences with FCA products that I see come into my work and the fact that Scotty generally would slightly prefer GM to FCA

I would go Ram over Chevy. The Silverado was rated one of the least reliable vehicles on consumer reports. The ram is not perfect but they are a lot better than they used to be and not to mention they have the nicest interior and the ride quality is the best.

I would have chosen an F150 with a non eco boost engine, but what do I know? I have a base model (2020) Toyota Tacoma and a 1977 AMC Gremlin with the Levi’s  interior option package.

Ram over the Chevy everytime. I used to work for GM. No way I would spend my hard earned money on their junk. Not a Dodge fan either, but since Ford is a literal disaster (5.0L V8 is crap and constantly burns oil and EcoBoost is junk all around) and I will never own another car from them after having to sue them into taking my 2018 F150 XLT V8 back, it would be Ram for me.

ok so one might say that your point of view is slightly colored because you've seen GM's dirty laundry. I used to do tech support for HP and I would never buy their computers either haha. It seems to me that most Dodge owners I talk to have had a major breakdown, especially self destructing transmissions. Maybe if you had worked at Dodge, your opinion would be a bit different?

Well, if you think I'm going to argue against your sound logic my friend, I'll have you know I'm......not. Hahaha. I know FCA has their problems...I mean, it is an Italian car company. No offense as the Italians make beautiful designs, but the mechanicals...ehh....not so much. Still, I would go Ram. Likely because my family always had Rams when I was growing up and I also just like the style better. To me they look more sporty. But you bring up a point that must be acknowledged I admit.

Have to agree they look better than Ford.

GM trucks are better than FCA. Gm has rubbish electronic quality but at least the engine doesn't blow up at 40.000 miles, which could happen on the Jeep/Fiat/Chrysler/Ram car's.

I would consider a Ford non-econoost truck, or a Nissan truck (titan 2016+ or frontier), or if you have the money a Toyota. Honestly, if buying new, any truck can last 50k miles without issues if taken care of, but that isn't enoguh for me.

Typically the 2500HD Gm trucks are more reliable, seen in car complaint, consumer surveys, and Scotty himself. He has a vidoe on it.
