Hi! I will be purchasing a used car for my son who is graduating from high school next year. He may be moving to Colorado after graduating, and I would like to get him a safe and reliable car that would work best in Colorado winter weather. A small SUV that's great for driving in the snow...any suggestions? I appreciate any advice especially from folks who live up north or even in Colorado. Thanks!

I would say toyota ,honda or if you want go fancy lexus.
Look for heater mirror and if you and treat him heated seats.

LOL! Of course a good heater 🙂 I've been to Colorado twice, but never lived there. Winters are more intense there than PA, which is where we're originally from (currently living in TN). I know Scotty K. is a fan of Toyota vehicles, so I'm leaning towards one of those. Safety and reliability are my biggest concerns. I appreciate your help!
Just make sure to keep the battery spotless. Here in Canada can get -40 celcius, I never had any problems starting up with my 2007 civic, it cranks long, but starts and I never owned a block heater. Honda or Toyota for sure.

I think any Toyota or Honda should work just fine. About SUV, I don’t think you necessarily need AWD, I understand it is good for snow driving but the snow tires are much more effective than AWD. Also, I heard somewhere that if the weather is so bad that you need AWD to get out of home, it is better to stay home, no matter what you have.
Suzuki mentioned a good point: good battery. I would say a better with high cold crank amp should be good for start up any engine in cold weather.
