What are they good years of a Chevy Silverado? I know the 2012 is good, but what about the rest?

I’m aware to stay far away from 2017 and 2004

im looking at 1999-present chevys

If you are talking about Silverado 1500 only, then as MMJ said up to (and including) model year 2006.  Beyond that, they started using cylinder deactivation in their V8 engines (also called Active Fuel Management or AFM) and more electronics all of which can give issues over time.  Overall quality also continued to decrease over the years that if you plan to keep the truck for as long as you can, I wouldn’t go past 2006 model year.

I know you said 99 and up but I got a 96 extended cab 2500when I was 16 and I kept it untill it had a little over 350K miles. No major issues of any kind other than cruise control not working. Untill the trans went out anyway.

See I know the last gen of the C/K are awesome I’ve owned one lol I had a 94 2500 and it was kick ass but the sea air in Georgia rusted it out to bad (sucks about coastal living)

id say from 1987 up to 1998 are the best if you still want the trottle body after that they become direct injection the worst is the 1999 that has the injectors under the upper intake wich i think was a dumb idea why not leave them outside the motor like the rest ,but over all fuel injeted or carb i would say 1977 up to 1998 are the best ones on my opinion.
