Grommet for slider pin

07 Silverado.  Does the caliper bracket need the rubber grommet. We brought a rebuild kit for the front calipers and the grommets do not fit, when we took the caliper apart I do not recall if it had the rubber grommets to begin with   I think they are called grommets

yes you need the rubber slide pin boots. otherwise the grease will get washed away and contaminated and your brakes will seize.


@imperator Thank you, but I am referring to the rubber grommets that came with the boots. These cylindrical (about 1" long) pieces of rubber go into the bracket ahead of the slide pin. The boots seated for me, but the grommits do not fit, they are too big circumference wise, and will not seat. I don't recall if the brackets had them in the first place.
