Hi, i have a 2006 lexus es330. i want to replace the factory headlight assembly with some aftermarket ones that are led with projector "angel eyes" lights. the place where im looking to buy the aftermarket assembly stated it only replaces halogen assembly and not hid assembly. how do i tell if my vehicle has the hid or halogen lights? and if i have the hid assembly, is there a way to convert the lights to use with the aftermarket led version?

Easy way to check if you have halogen or HID - with your headlights off, pull up in front of a wall. Then turn them on.

If they are yellowish in color, they are halogen. If they are more white, they are HID. HIDs are brighter than halogens.

Another way to tell is when you turn on your headlights, do they light immediately or does it take a second for them to come on and fully illuminate the path in front of the car? Immediate illumination - halogen. Little bit of lag time - HID.

If it states you can only swap the aftermarket for stock halogen housings, I would assume there is a reason and they will not work with HID light wiring.

@mod_man
okay. thanks for the help!

I have had some customers who reverted back to oem standard lights after not likely the angel eyes. Make sure you know what you are buying because sometimes the aftermarket lights can be a little tricky getting them to fit snugly because the tolerances aren't always the best.
