Hi Scotty! 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2L Automatic with 213K miles. I bought this slightly used in '97 and still enjoy driving it. A month ago the Defrost stopped on the Manual Climate Control. No Vacuum Leak detected. The cruise control still works and I can verify that the vacuum actuator controlling the Defrost door actually operates. What I don't know is if the other two vacuum actuators should be moving at the same time or why on earth I have no defrost heading into Winter? As I move the switch from Floor to Vent to Floor/Defrost to full Defrost I can see and hear the actuator operating but there is no discernable change in air flow. It only is discharging through the floor vents. Any suggestions I should try? Thanks in advance for your help!
we're here at making noises so odds are they blend or assembly is broken and they actuators are making noise but they are perhaps broken off from the plastic blend door and won't move them anymore they gigantic expensive repair on their Jeep taking those dashes apart most mechanics charge about a thousand dollars
WOW! My first question and I get a response from the great Scotty Kilmer himself!!!! Gonna mark my calendar, Sir! Anyhow thank you so much for your time and response. I did learn to peek under the dash while my wife operated the controls and found that to my good fortune (Christmas Miracle) there are TWO actuators that are used to operate the FLOOR and Vent/Defrost functions. BOTH actuators function and the one for the FLOOR had become disconnected. Not broken parts!!! (yet).... I learned something for sure. Lots of researching this problem before reaching out to you for help. So far I have only had to perform minor repairs to this vehicle so I don't really know much about it. I have been told that I have been lucky but hey, its a Jeep... Merry Christmas Scotty and thank you again. I really enjoy your youtube videos and watch them whenever I have a chance. I hope you keep making them as they are interesting.
