Hello, I have a 2008 Honda Accord 2.4L and 200k miles. The car runs well but has a ping at low acceleration, regular 87 octane gas (Costco brand). Is the only resolution for this higher octane fuel or should I be looking at something else? Cheers!
So I have an update to this. The VTC actuator needed replacing which is very common on the K24 engine... When I got into the job, I discovered the timing chain was stretched more than a full link. I replaced the chain and the car runs like a top on 87 octane again! Thanks for the input here!! Cheers
If you use higher octane gas and it goes way, your engine has carbon build up. You can try some fuel additives and pray it helps.
Have your cam positioning sensor checked for proper adjustment as this sets the ignition timing. It may be too far advanced.
