2008 Chevy Impala V6 ABS TCS CEL on

Hey scotty I got a 08 Chevy Impala LT 3.9L V6 175k miles and my ABS light is on, as well as traction control and check engine light. The dash reads service break assist, service traction control, battery saver mode, and reduced engine power. It has been doing this occasionally after I start it up and drive, but if I shut it off for a while it will go away aside my check engine light. Help!!!!!!! It drives terrible when this happens.

So i swung by Oreillys and checked the check engine codes pulled up P0172, P2138, P2122. Of course this was when my ABS, Traction Control lights and dash prompts were not on. :/

PO172 means that the fuel mix is rich. 2138 goes to reduced electronic throttle controls, P2122 goes to the throttle position sensor. OK, something is going on with the throttle, since all of these have to do with the fuel mix,

Is that a cause, or is it an effect, a shutdown into limp mode because the car was put into limp mode? I don't know.

O'Reilly's isn't going to cut it. You need someone who will drive the car, record the live data, and follow that yellow brick road to an accurate diagnosis.

Thanks for all the information, called a local mechanic that is hopefully reputable and gave all the issued I have been having and what you guys have said and he says its impossible to say over the phone, but that he has seen these GM issues before, probably something with the throttle body, and hes sure we will have the change the accelerator pedal assembly. But he is so busy he is booked up till mid April. So hopefully everything goes well and these problems dont get worse cuz I have to drive it everyday.

You need to have a mechanic scan it for error codes. Could be a bad wheel sensor triggering the ABS and traction control problems but it sounds like you have more going on there.

Those are generic ODB2 codes:

P0172: Bank 1 too rich
P2138: Throttle Position Sensor D/E voltage correlation
P2122: Throttle Position Sensor low voltage

The OBD2 scanner at the parts store won't read the GM-specific fault codes for the traction control and ABS system. For that a dealer-level scan tool is needed, which for that car would be a Tech2 or a fancy scan tool like Scotty uses.

So it looks like you have multiple issues going on there.

It might also be a whacked out ABS module, as well, which would be far more expensive than wheel sensor replacement. I agree with Chuck. Have it coded out, and find a mechanic who will actually do diagnostic work, and not someone who will indiscriminately fire "the parts cannon."
