I have a 2014 chevy cruze LTZ 1.4L 125,000milesautomatic. My question is i have 2 obd codes popping up p0299(turbocharger/supercharger underboost), and a p0420 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1) I replaced basically everything in this car already new 02 sensors, just alot of new parts. I had a mechanic diagnose it and told me im going to need a new turbo ( when im at a stop and i try to accelerate the car barely moves then after awhile it picks up speed), my question is do you prefer a Stigan Turbo or a new GARRETT OEM? im stuck please help me.
Take off the turbocharger and inspect what's wrong with it.
Usually you can get away with just rebuilding it.
I'm unsure if your cat not functioning properly has anything to do with your turbo, these Opel-GM cars are terrible.
hi @Dan, thank you for your input, i hate this car....another question. every time my ac is on and i come to a stop the car wants to lose power completely? but it idles fine with the ac off? ant clue
i hate this car.
Yea, that's the way these German-Korean "masterpieces" are, It's basically an old Opel Astra.
It's not a common car, and yet it and its sister car from Opel make up a huge chunk of questions on this forum.
And it's almost always PCV, blown head gaskets, destroyed pistons, and just wired faults,...
The number 1 issue remains bad PVC diaphragms, so it's worth checking it.

This is also a common question with these,
Usually what is check the PCV, and reset the idle (disconnect the battery and let it re-learn).
But sometimes these Opels do not want to relearn it properly.
