Hey Scotty I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu v6 187k on it and I have a slight issue with it that just occur couple months ago The engine be trying to die when I’m at idle or at a stop I had cleaned mass air flow sensor throttle body and fuel injectors cleaned and 1 oxygen sensor replaced like years ago and it still act up I had the evap purge replaced couple months ago so it was smoked tested, I recent had it checked by my mechanic with fancy scan tool and it showing lean code, something I wanna fix but I need to know what it is I still get great gas mileage nothing bad drives and shift good. It only tries sometimes to die on its own at stand still Rpm goes up and down at idle slightly
How old is the fuel filter? Is fuel pressure OK? Also check for vacuum leaks. (Spray around vacuum hoses and fittings with carb cleaner - the engine will react if any gets sucked in through a leak.)
Not sure I don’t have no hesitation it just tries to die and I’ll also check again all the vacuum lines again
The mechanic is on the right track. Let him fix your car. Driving around with problems like that will damage your car.
What are the codes?
They didn’t tell me they read it told me had lean codes and they would need to do some diagnostic
My 2005 Chevy Malibu v6 has code of p0171 and p0174 in the engine module, but it has a confirm code of p0442 already had car smoke tested like 2 months ago while the car kept dying at idle or a stop. I cleaned mass air flow senor and throttle body bad 1 o2 senor replaced years ago had the evap purge replaced couple month Ago,I still get great gas mileage nothing bad drives and shift good
It's a Chevy it still runs good personally I'd leave it alone but you could easily have a minor leaks in the intake manifold gasket that will do that and are almost impossible to diagnose without taking the engine apart
