When driving down the road at 30 MPH and above the Tachometer suddenly drops to 0 and the transmission sticks in whatever gear it is currently engaged. The engine is still running and you can continue on this way until you have to slow or come to a stop. Once stopped, I place the car in Park and turn off engine, and immediately restart. Problem solved! Problem Reoccurs about once a week, but never seems to happen at parking lot speeds. has happened in both stop and go traffic and highway speeds.
What can be causing this mystery?

sounds like the TCM is losing input speed signal. Take it to a transmission expert.
