Hey Sccoty, I have a question. I'm thinking of a car that good for a daily driver and , What I had in mind was a 2001 Accord coupe with the V6 and a 6 speed manual transmission or should I go for the 2016 Acura TlX with the four cylinder engine? What will you choose

I have a 1999 Honda Accord Coupe 4 cylinder manual. Had it since day one.  I love it.

I'd go with the 4 cylinder Acura. IIRC, it has a timing chain.

I just changed my timing belt on the 1999.  It was a PITA.  Timing chains are better for the long haul, unless you have the skill or $$$ to do a timing belt.

I believe the 6 cylinder 2001 Accord coupe also has a timing belt. So that is something to take under consideration.

If you do decide to get the Accord, besides doing the timing belts, I HIGHLY recommend to changing out the drivers side door latch, if it hasn't been changed out.  It will go out due to age and wear and tear.  I was crawling out of the passenger side door because the driver side wouldn't open.

If that Acura had less than a 100,000 miles & a mechanic checks it out, before you buy it, I’d pick it as my daily driver.

The 22 yr old Accord even with a manual, will need some work if you plan to use it as your daily.

So a 22 year old Accord vs a 7 year old Acura? Different stories here. Those older Accords were decent with a manual transmission but I would get the Acura if it has less than 80 90k miles and is in good mechanical shape.

The 2016 is much better than 2015 with the horrendous transmissions.

I would have a mechanic check out the transmission and make sure it is in good shape.

neither tbh, the accord is little old and acura barely depreciated yet. if you're ok with driving manual, look for 09-12 accord (4cyl) those can last forever especially with manual

The Acura would not be that bad actually if it is a 2016 2017 model the older ones had auto transmission issues. Scotty's 3 best luxury cars list has the 2016 Acura tlx oj it. The accord is too old. A newer 2011 or so Accord manuel could also be a good choise as you said.

the newer acuras, honda pilot/odyssey are better now because they put ZF transmission instead of house brand. i only disagreed because value wise
