I have a 2005 Lincoln town car when I'm cruising then touch the gas the rear end shifts to the right and when I get off it settles to the left something in the rear suspension?

Clarification: mileage?

Do you mean the rear tires slide around on the road, or is the rear axle moving around under the body?

Yeah it feels like rear axel moving around under the car and when you drive over big bumps there's popping and clunking sounds

Check your frame integrity (rust, cracks) and suspension bushings back there.

Make sure you don't have a situation like the first example in this video:

Oh no the frames solid no rust do you think it could be a bad watts link or one of the link bars?

Pretty much has to be, probably worn or dry rotted bushings after 17 years.

Holy smokes that driveshaft! {black}:nerd: Lube your u-joints people!
