im looking for a fun sports car for florida, wondering if i should go with a new Corvette or the new supra
my brother has a supra and loves it and im sure i would too but i love the looks of the vette.
thanks again keep at the great work!
@therev
go with toyota supra, scotty says that is good. my neighbor had a new corvette, didnt last more than 3 weeks with it, too many issues. good luck
Coming from UK I’d pick the corvette over it’s stature and performance level. The supra is a great car and the engine it’s fitted with is a historically reliable unit. But the presence of the corvette IMO will be much more.
The fall down for the corvette being that maintenance will probably be more than the supra.
if your brother already has a supra then it might also make sense to go with the corvette as having two different cars in the family can always mean you can swap when you feel like driving something different 🙂
@junaid
What part of that B58 engine is reliable ?
Endless cases High-Pressure Fuel Pump failures or even fuel injector failures. Also its VANOS, that means issues if you don't take care of the engine.
Not to mention Coolant Consumption, Valve cover gasket problems, Oil Filter deteriorating, just like its predecessors.
I would be surprised if it doesn't have timing chain problems as apparently BMW lately fits their engines with plastic crap.
The B58 has won countless awards, understandably as with anything complaints get more attention than actual results, they’ve proven well both on and off track, with tuners able to get up to 1000hp.
In the U.K.with the mount of BMW’s sold especially with these engines there would be an out roar.
Any engine if you don’t take of it would Eventually die. Especially high performance engines, and with the B58 improving on N55 and N54. With companies like Litchfield approving it with a stock internal tune of 420hp fairly easily they’ve so far been very reliable.
Tuff one, I don't like bmw....and the corvette is American Ferrari easy on parts and service compared to bmw motors.
@jackofall
thats what i was thinking too. my brother keeps telling me how the supra is like a bmw inside and he likes it but it makes me think bills and unreliable. im just not sure what would be better. i normally lease my main cars and will be buying this one for a fun car.
@jackofall
A car for 50 - 60 thousand dollars and you are thinking bills?
I guess anybody should reconsider buying any of those vehicles in that case.
Did you consider looking into the acura nsx that's up there in the competition between those cars maybe a higher price tag but well worth it if you like sports cars and Honda is reliable.
There ya go, it's a fun car so just go drive them and get the one that is most fun! Both will have issues and only time will tell (BMW historically meh, Corvettes, hit or miss and this is a new model so???)
Yeah, I know corvettes have issues, especially radical new designed ones. 1984 c5 trans. On and on, but I am positive bmw is a money pit and drops in value like a man hole cover. Usually u can buy a 3 year old vet and have a reliable car.
