I was looking to buy one for £2500 ($3400), and I've heard that they're money pits, my friends also think Lexus' are moneypits, are they really this bad?

No Lexus are really reliable cars just make sure to have a mechanic check out that car first before you buy it.

Keep in mind Lexus is a Toyota company.  Due to their design, Lexus are not money pits like the other luxury car competitors (esp. German).  They are generally reliable but like all things parts from time to time will need replacing and usually the parts (esp. sticking with OEM) will cost more than the non-luxury Toyota ones.
