1992 Mitsubishi Galant 188,000. ELC 4 A/T. Power lights up on the dash but econo one doesn’t. What could be the issue.

The car is 30 years old. It could be as simple as the switch in the button no longer works, or wiring and/or connectors could have deteriorated, or it could be a problem in the transmission controller. Or - the button is working and the light is burned out.
