- Hi Scotty. I have this habit for almost 10 years that when I change the engine oil and before I put the new filter and put the bolt in, I make a very quick start - less than a second- in order to completely drain the old oil. Crazy right? However, I always fill the new filter with oil in order feed the engine with oil as fast as it can be. What do u think?

both your habits are unnecessary. (unless you have a big diesel engine with a 1qt oil filter)
