Hi Scotty. My dad just purchased a 2012 corvette zr1 centennial edition with 21k miles. The leather dashboard is now peeling and it’s a known issue to the c6 corvettes with the leather dashboards. Gm is only willing to cover 10 percent of the cost to install a new dashboard and that is ridiculous. Please make a video about it so hopefully the Gm people see it and cover more of the repair. This is the top of the line corvette in 2012 and cost almost $130,000 new and the cost to repair is like $3300 Thank you
They still have those issues in their top trim (3LT and 3LZ) in the C7 Generation as well. I would not expect much from GM, unfortunately.
Garbage motors!
I'm not at all surprised. Even at that price point, GM cheaps out everywhere they can.
They had dash problems on the F-Body cars and also the Corvettes. This is why I often say "Corvettes are finicky". There is always some little thing going on with them.
Congrats on hitting 5,000 fellow Illustrious Member!
Thanks @Daywalker! Just saw that. 🙂 Congrats yourself.
The engines and manual transmissions are okay but it’s the rest that sucks especially the electronics. He had a 1998 corvette before this one and a new electronic would break on it every month and he would have me fix it cuz it was a piece of junk lol.
@mod_man, @daywalker
good job to you both. Thank you for your contribution. It's remarkable the volume of people we've been able to reach out to and help.
Thanks @MountainManJoe ! There’s a lot of people that need help, and I also enjoy reading and learning from others’ perspectives.
Thanks very much @Mountainmanjoe. Happy to help where I can.
I am surprised they even talk with you about a 9 year old dashboard. Send it Just Dashes in Van Nuys, CA for a rebuild.
He’s been insulting the crap out of them over the phone so I think he’ll work something out with them
Yeah, right.
