Hey Scotty how are ya? I recently bought a 2009 pontiac vibe 1.8ltr automatic, 105k miles. It has the Corolla drivetrain & chassis...nearly identical to the matrix in every way. My question is...im going to do a transmission fluid & filter change and was wondering if i should spend the money on the "genuine"(NOT lol) Toyota fluid or if you can recommend a cheaper compatible substitute?

Also, im not sure if you've ever done a video with a Vibe before, but if you ever get back to Tennessee Id love to pay ya to do a health check on it. It has no codes(that a simple obd2 scanner can read at least), and besides it having a rebuilt title it seems to be in great shape. It was a side impact, professionally resored with no frame damage. All that it need was I had to pull the SCM and send it out to have the hard crash data cleared to get the airbag light to turn off. Funny(or aggravating) story about that actually. I bought the car in Tennessee as i live just outside Chattanooga where my address is technically Georgia. Well I had to get a state inspection done to transfer the title to my name, and the guy failed me for the most ignorant reasons! I would have had to put over 2 grand into the car before i could even transfer the title to my name...and the work he wanted done would have had absolutely no effect on the car. Not mechanically, not safety, or otherwise! You would seriously laugh if you saw what he wanted done Scotty. Anyways luckily I was able to change my adress to Tennessee where it had already been inspected so i was able to switch the title and get it registered, otherwise i would have been screwed. I wouldnt have even been able to re sell it...because i Georgia wouldnt let put the title in my name! It was a ridiculous ordeal. Now I'll put that money into making actual improvements and repairs to the car. Thanks in advance and have a good one!

It has a rebuilt title. I would just use a compatible fluid.
