Hello guys. My 2000 Camry tends to rev quite high before changing gears, particularly at gear 1 and 2. It’s a 4-speed transmission and car has over 200,000 miles. Is this something I might have to live with or can this be corrected without having to rebuild the transmission?
When was the last time the ATF was changed?
Have a look through the forum’s FAQ to check how to change your ATF.
Fingers crossed it’s just low on fluid or needs a fluid change..
I bought it from a random dude, tbh it didn’t seem like the car was taken care of religiously so I wouldn’t be surprised if the ATF hasn’t been changed in a long while. All I did when I got it was to top it up, never really changed it completely.
Do a drain & fill using the Toyota fluid for your transmission & check the results after driving for a few weeks. Keep us updated
