Hello,
Does anyone know if higher octane is better for direct injection engines? Like my 2016 Accord. Is it better for less carbon build up?
Thanks,
Robert

If it's turbocharged, then yes, higher octane gas is better and even recommended. If it's not, then you'll see no benefit. Octane rating has nothing to do with carbon build-up or carbon cleaning.
Thank you for your response Razmig!

For DI engines, since the fuel is being sprayed directly in the combustion chamber it has no chance to clean or wash off the backs of the valves, so neither higher octane nor fuel additives will help you with respect to the Carbon buildup.
