Hi scotty I have an Opel Astra j GTC 1.6 turbo. It has 130 000 km on the clock and is a 2012 model. I’ve started noticing that every time I turn the car off there is a hissing sound almost as if aur is escaping from the engine. When I open the oil refill lid it’s stops. However, when I open the lid it feels as if there is a lot of pressure and the pressure is relieved when opened. I’m not sure what it could be? Maybe the head gasket? Not sure. Please advise.
my ac does that
If you remove the oil dipstick with the engine running and put a small piece of cardboard over the hole, there should be enough vacuum there to hold it in place if the PCV valve is working. I just always replace the valve when I do an oil change ayway just for quality.
I would check my PCV valve and if there is any question, just change it out for a new one. They are relatively inexpensive.
Thanks for the advice. However I just noticed that it’s not blowing air it’s a strong vacuum in the engine. I opened the oil lid while the engine was running and I noticed it’s “sucking” the lid could this still be the PCV valve?
