Should I buy a Civic with a 3-cylinder turbo?

Hello, Scotty I’m living in Europe and I’m looking for second hand an affordable runner. There is one Honda Civic Elegance 2017 very stylish but they’re saying the Honda Civic 1.0 Vtec engine is junk, because is developed by European manufacturer. It is 3 cylinders with turbo which makes up to 130 HP, but doesn’t have a timing chain, has belt who kind of goes in oil if you ever heard for thing engines. Why do think is it a bad idea to purchase this car?

Kind Regards, Ian

Honda doesn't sell that engine here in the U.S. However other manufacturers offer similar engines and they are junk. (Ford even sells a similar engine here with an oil-bath rubber timing belt.) I don't know what other options you have in your country but unless there is contradictory information regarding that specific Honda engine I would steer clear of it.
