Honda Pilot 6 speed transmissions

Do you have an opinion as to why my 2019 Pilot EXL’s trans fluid color changes to brown at 17k mikes?  I’ve read Honda uses a Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system that shuts down 3 cylinders from time to time and this in turn causes torque converter slippage, which ultimately fries the oil and leads to premature trans failure.  Some are recommending using an aftermarket device called a S-VCM which disables the VCM.  What’s your opinion, if any, about the S-VCM device?  I’ve read that some Honda owners are now changing trans fluid at 10K!  If all this is true, how is Honda getting away with this?

  1. Yes I would definitely disable that and I agree with that analysis
