Honda’s good?

My 20 something son wants to buy a all wheel drive Honda suv. A year or two older 2017 - 2020. Is there any bad stuff to look for or avoid in Hondas, like oil dilution issues.

thanks.

The 1.5L turbo Honda engines have had some oil dilution issues. Honda seems to have addressed this for 2019+ models, but I would still try to avoid them if you can help it. Try looking at a 2019+ Honda Passport - they have the 3.5L V6. If you want something a little cheaper, a 2017+ Honda CRV with the 2.4L 4 cylinder is also a good choice. You can get both of these SUVs with AWD.

Thanks for the good advise

To add on, the 2017 -2018 Honda CR-V comes with the 2.4 engine in only the base LX trim, while the Honda Passport has tons of transmission issues.

The 2017-2018 Honda CR-v (usa spec) came with an option of 2 engines. A 1.5 GDI Turbo and 2.4 Naturally Aspirated. The 2.4 is a very reliable engine and comes with the base LX trim. The 1.5T had oil dellusion issues. Major transmission issues were solved in 2016, but continue to be somewhat weak in AWD Hondas. The Pilots are pretty good. Honda makes the best engines and take care of the tranny and it could last.

Thanks
